As Mr. Fox entered the plane the stewardess greeted him with a smile. “May I direct you to your seat sir?” she spoke in a cheerful and sparkling voice. He nodded and followed her to his first class seat and opened the top compartment to set his overnight bag and jacket inside. “Please let me do that for you sir,” the stewardess remarked as she slipped away the bag and coat from his arms. She smiled at him and he smiled back and took his seat as another stewardess handed him a glass of chilled bubbling champagne. “Relax,” she offered. “We will be airborne in just a few moments.” He settled back in his chair, lifted the fluted glass to his lips and took a long slow drink as the plane left the gate and turned for the runway.
Looking back at it now for him it all seemed so easy to pull off. His Mother was so proud of the little boy that had grown up so smart and was always at the top of his class in all of the studies he had ever put effort toward. It all seemed so easy for him and the corporate ladder he climbed was structured to his advantage in every way.
In a short thirty two years he had not only helped the first and only corporation he had ever worked for to be number one in the industry and in the world but in doing so he had also been able to embezzle 500 million from the company and was now heading to the islands for an early retirement.
Since he had gained the right people’s trust early and throughout his career and had access to the ever changing pass words in the computer systems in all of the jobs he had performed he was able to skim funds off of everything from retirement funds to fund allocations in any and all departments.
He had so easily wired the money to a secret bank account on an island just outside the reach of the government and knew it would be safe there for him the rest of his life.
